Wooden gate frame design

Hi,

I have a block wall opening of 125cm and a standard gate which is 90cm. What is the best way to frame / hang the gate. I have 35cm so using 2 x 4 either side would leave me short. Should I just add another piece or is there a better way?

What about a double door idea?

If you install them with a stile, the both doors could be open for larger items (should they ever been needed)?

Either case, ensure you install a vertical member from the lower hinge to the upper end of the door (or both). See below:

Nice idea but I only have one gate.
The back of the gate is braced so I think I’m covered there. It’s just the gate post / frame that I’m not sure about, I have around 7” / 175mm is either side so do I just fill the space with 2x4” posts?

Return the gate, if you can, or flog it on eBay if you can't, and make one the right size. You can see from the one you bought how simple the construction is.

Ok under pressure so need to install this gate, in this opening? Any advice that doesn’t involve a different gate?
