I asked an electrician to install a switch for an existing 240V / 30 amp line, to switch between a dryer and a car charger; both are rated 24 amps.
This is the switch I suggested:

He said it's against code. This is in Cupertino, California.
Is that true? What's the problem? Any issue if I do it myself?
