my tenant has had a problem with here electric boiler and one of the electric heaters not working, so i figured a fuse must have gone. There are these old wlylex mcbs plugged in the one for the boiler is a WYB15 to be exact which looks like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/WYLEX-PUSH...TF8&qid=1494988256&sr=8-13&keywords=wylex+mcb but the 15 amp version with a blue 'dot' button instead of the white one pictured here (cant find the 15A one on amazon). She took it to a local hardware store and the guy in there apparently opened it up and said it was broken and needed replacing, but that they were discontinued so she would have to get a whole new fusebox.
So there's two questions here, do they break, and would there be a way of him knowing by looking or is he just talking from the proverbial? If he is right about that, why couldn't I just replace with one of the more widely available, non-discontinued MCBs such as this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/WYLEX-CIRC...d=1494988445&sr=8-2&keywords=wylex+mcb+15+amp will it fit in the same slot and do the job?
