Replacing a motor run capacitor

I have an old electric garden shredder (McCullock MB241W 1400 Watts). Some years ago the motor run capacitor failed and I bought a replacement. That has now failed so it needs to be replaced as well.

The current capacitor is a LCR MR16/440 09-28, 440V 50/60/Hz, 16µF (+/-10%) . Whether this matches the original one exactly, I don't know. Although I found an apparent McCulloch Part No (either 9500.0255-00 or 9500.0226-00 - I don't know what the difference is between the two), actual McCulloch spares appear to be no longer available.

I've found lots of LCR capacitors stocked by online retailers, but none of them are 16µF - the nearest are 15 or 20. Would it be OK to use one of those, and if so which please? Alternatively there appear to be quite a lot of 16µF examples available from Amazon. The key factors are that (1) it must have spade terminals not fly-leads and (2) it must have a screwed stud on the end of the case for mounting.

Any advice please?

You should be ok with using a 15mfd capacitor, don’t go any lower on voltage, higher voltage is ok.
Do you have a picture of the cap?

I found a 16mfd eventually (Ducatti ?), swopped out the old one (which had a small hole burnt in the side!), and so far so good - fingers crossed !
