I have an outside light at the side of my house with a movement sensor. It comes on at night if anyone walks past the side of the house. We recently installed a basketball hoop on the wall of the house for my teenage son. I knew it was a matter of time before the ball damaged the light, and now it's happened. The plastic covering of the light is cracked and the wires are exposed to the elements.
I have taped over the cracks and put a plastic bag over the light to stop the rain getting in. But ultimately I need to remove the light. I see no point in replacing it as my son will eventually damage any replacement light, too. So my question is: how do I safely remove the outside light? What do I do with the wiring? I'm totally clueless about all this stuff but could really do with avoiding the costs of getting an electrician out.
I'd be grateful for advice.
