I had a minisplit system installed. The installers ran pipes through my basement so that it would look better than having them run them outside. The above picture shows how they had the pipes enter the house. The only protection against leaks is the silicone in the picture. I am concerned that there should be some sort of cover over these pipes and over the silicone. I called the company up and they said they could put aluminum flashing above it but warned that it wouldn't look good. Is that the best way to go? They say it is the only way to go. At other entry points where the pipes go into a minisplit they do have covers over the silicone but in those cases they have fewer pipes coming in so it is less bulky. I'd appreciate any advice.
