My old UK Potterton Flamingo 40 boiler works well apart from not igniting the pilot flame, due to its high-voltage wire insulation failing. The photos below show where the HV wire (in protective sleeving) enters via a channel formed in the enclosing metalwork under the rim of the (absent) window. Without parts available, I am considering replacing only a few inches around the failed section, pinching the joints. I would value any opinions before embarking.
