PIR Light Problem

Hi there, I'd appreciate some advice.
Just tried to install a PIR controlled exterior light but it keeps tripping the RCD.
The wiring looks a bit funny to me

(Sorry, the link won't post as I haven't made enough posts. Is there some way I can direct you to the photo?)

as with the two white wires going directly to the bulb base from the supply, I don't see how the PIR can control the light. These wires are connected to the supply neutral and earth.
The PIR blue connects to neutral, the brown to live, and the red to earth.
Has the light been wired incorrectly at the factory?
Thanks for any help,
Jerry

Hello,
Its difficult to say exactly but what I would do is take the light back to where ever you bought it and ask them. It could be a faulty wiring unit but there again its better safe than sorry. If you do wire it up and wire it incorrectly and inadvertently damage the unit then you are stuck with it whereas if you take it back and ask the supplier at least you will know!

Good luck
