I have a dining set that has a metal fram with upholstery on the seats and cane weave on chair backs. The cane is torn so we took it out but are wondering about upholstering the back instead of putting new cane weave in. All the videos I see of people doing that have wooden chairs that they can staple the fabric into. Since I am working with metal, what can I do to secure the fabric to the chair? I was thinking to use glue to push it into the caning groove and then running a cable all around to be wedged until the groove securing it. Willl glue be enough? And what kind is best? I am posting the original pic and then one of it all stripped down.
