I'm preparing to repaint two older storm doors (wood). I'm looking for suggestions on care of the removable windows.
The windows are true divided lights, three panes across by four high. The glass is held in place not by points and glazing compound but by tacked strips of wood. The glass is pretty tight, but does rattle a little.
My ways forward are simply to clean, scrape, sand, prime, and paint, or to disassemble and reassemble first with some sealant between the glass and wood. However, I worry that disassembly would damage the wood strips and be an incredible headache, doing more harm and little, if any, good.
