I want to install a line of downlighters in my hall but when I try to divide the line evenly I find that at least one light will foul a joist running across the hall.
How should lamps be spaced to avoid joists?
Hi,
That's what is known as Sod's Law. There really is no answer to this. downlights have been called a few things due to this. At the end of the day you have to forget the equal spacing, and 'play' with the spacing as best you can.
John:
I guess you are right.
I think I'll position the downlights in pairs, with alternate shorter and longer spaces between.
But I'll first prepare a scale drawing.
