Hello,
I just moved into a new house, and water has been seeping in the back wall. The house in on a slope, with the effected wall facing the downard slope.
There is some grading behind the house, with a pipe and gravel drainage system, but it goes under a rear porch so I cant inspect it very well.
There is gutter extensions leading far away from the house, although I did notice the gutters need to be cleaned out, there full of leaves.
In the basement there is just a 1" deep drainage channel leading into a open sump. It is full of mud which enters with the water seepage.
Should I just try to clean out the mud and see if that works?
Should I create a proper "french" type drain in the back wall, and a additional dedicated sump pit in that corner?
I read you can not do that with a monolithic foundation, how do I know if I have one?
Thanks for any advice!
