Help! My new pallet wall art blends into my wall color.

image.jpeg I was thinking of taking black paint and sponging a small bit around the border to help it pop more off my wall. I'm hoping that doesn't ruin it though! Any suggestions? Plus I need to raise it above light switch a bit. :)
