Grundflos Auto Adapt

Hi
I have a grundflos Auto adapt that was added about a year ago by BG.
They did tell me to run in with auto on but I can't work out how the pump will ever work out how much power to use.
There are no sensors that I can see on the feed and return pipes so I am at a loss.
At auto adap the power sits at 9W and most of the rads stay cool. If I put it on mid power they all heat up.
