Thanks JohnKay Only one valve the make is a center I gave it a wack seems OK now. hope this is not a problem with these valves.

Yes, a common problem. The biggest problem seems to be the diagnosis at times. It may not be obvious that in most cases it's the valve that actually controls the boiler. The user controls just open and close the valve.
Sorry to say, that just giving the thing a good bash isn't going to be a lasting repair.
