Attached is a photo of our existing front porch and roof covering it. I am wanting to replace the 4x4 columns with 6x6 columns for a more pleasing aesthetic look as well as greater structural support at the corners. The porch the roof covers is approximately 24' wide by 4' deep. The roof I metal. I'd like to have the two interior or middle columns removed and only have the corner post. I live in Florida so there is no added load during winter months, I'm just not sure if this is possible, given the span. The ridge of the gable runs back to the ridge of the roof line.
