Electric sanders

I'm back into doing my own DIY after a long break and feeling a bit overwhelmed by the choice of tools available ... back in the day I was pretty much tool free and everything was done by hand. I was hoping to get some recommendations for an electric sander to use, there seem to be so many on offer that I don't know where to start. I need to sand down door frames, architraves, 1930s doors with recessed panels, chamfered skirting boards, bannister and square spindles about 4 inches apart. Suggestions for a suitable good value reliable sander with dust collection would be appreciated.
