Hi All,
I have what I assumed was a simple problem that a trip to B&Q would fix. But I am struggling to find what I am looking for.
I have bought a period light fitting for the porch of my home. When it gets dusk I would like the light to come on at a dimmed level. I would then like a motion sensor to turn the light up full should anyone come up the path.
After much research I have found Zenith Dualbrite in the USA but not the UK. So it looks like I need to make my own system, unless anyone knows an off the shelf product?
My question is this. Can I supply 1 bulb with 2 sources of power? For example, I send 2 240V supplies to my porch (from a socket with a timer on it), one into a PIR and one into a dimmed transformer/dimming unit/something. Both of these supplies would meet up in a connection block to which the fitting would be attached. When the timer allows power to be supplied but there is no motion the bulb will receive a 15Watt supply (for example), but when the motion sensor picks someone up, that then sends a greater supply to the bulb making it brighter. Will this work or will I fry something?
Also, Am I looking at this the wrong way? Is there an easier method?
Any help/advice appreciated
