Hi I’m new to this forum and not sure where to post this question but seems it’ll fit into this catagory.
Unfortunately when Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast our home flooded and now we have to tear down and build new, but we have a huge deck and don’t want to tear it down as well but the new house will be about 3 feet higher than the original house and the roof is connected to the house not supported by anything other than the house on that end, my question is would it be easier to raise the entire deck (floor and roof) to the new height of the house or just raise the roof and increase the roof pitch? We have numerous bottle jacks and some redneck ingenuity on our side but want other opinions on how to go about this project. If we leave the heights alone the roof would be about mid doorway so that’s not an option.
