Converting High Voltage Thermostat to Nest

FYI, I am NOT considering doing this conversion by myself (would be hiring an electrician). Rather, I'm trying to suss out the following since the people that owned this house before us did some....odd things so I've learned not to take anything at face value:
  1. I have a forced air gas furnace, but my thermostat says, "Caution, high voltage" on it. Is this normal? My understanding is that forced air furnaces usually use low voltage thermostats. I've attached pictures below with the faceplate removed.
  2. Assuming it is a high voltage thermostat, what would it cost to have the electrical work done to allow us to install a Nest or other low voltage thermostat?
Thank you!
