Any one here making any lumber with a chain saw?
I have bought a loop of milling chain and made a home made mill. I have a nice Ash log already to go and just need to make the time to get started on it.

Won’t the be a considerable amount of waste due to the width of the chainsaw blade? Here in N.C. there are quite a few portable mills but the ones I have seen are all bandsaw blades with a narrow kerf.

Yes there is waste of wood. But I have my own wood lot and can mill a log with a crook in it.

Bands saw mills will come to my property and mill nice clean logs I have piled up. Usual a set fee to start them so much per board foot. around 30 cents here.

Amish near my brother use a stationary saw blade mill and are resonable in price. I live 3 hours from my Brother.
