Can Grilles Be Removed From Simulated Divided-Lite Windows

I have purchased a home with quality Marvin windows and doors but they are all Simulated Divided-Lite style and I am looking for a more contemporary/ modern look. I was wondering is there a way to remove the grilles in between the double pane? The muntin can be removed easily because it's on the exterior of the window/ door, but is it possible to remove the grille?

I'd say not without wrecking the windows...the muntin is easily removed for cleaning. The bars between panes don't get dirty.
