Hi there:
I was wondering if someone out there could help me out.
My house has been rewired a year and half ago, and the guy who did it was not the best at what he does; we ended up firing him when the job was 75% complete.
Anyway, the wife wants a new light fitting in the downstairs loo, and I'm trying to accomodate.
So, following the good practice I've learned because of the above said idiot, I exposed the wiring to rose and decided to understand how the wiring worked before proceeding with disconnecting anything (learned my lesson from doing the same thing in the bedroom)
So, there are 4 flexes coming to the rose:
2 N - blue connected to the lamp holder N - blue
1 ? - black connected to the lamp holder N - blue
4 L - brown connected to the lamp holder Loop
1 ? - black connected to the lamp holder L - brown
2 ? - Grey connected together, separately.
4 G/Y earthed connected to lamp holder PE
I have attached a picture, for illustration (two earths slipped out, not to worry)
My first reflex would to:
a) not panic,
b) forget about trying to understand,
c) replicate the arrangement remotely (i.e., above the ceiling),
d) run a little piece flex with only Lampholder N, L and PE to my new fitting.
Any opinion on this course of action ?
Cheers,
Alex
